Cantor Would Vote for Paul Ryan
May 24, 2011
So would we.
From
MinnPost:
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor today said he'd like to see House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan run for president — and his remarks happened to come exactly when a certain former Minnesota governor was announcing his campaign for president in Des Moines.
Cantor said Ryan, the Wisconsin Republican who authoried the House GOP's budget plan that controversially involves overhauling Medicare, had showed the "real leadership" needed for a presidential candidate. Asked if Ryan should run, he replied, "Sure."
While Cantor said that "the candidates who are in the race are strong candidates," there has been a sense among many in the GOP that the current field of candidates is somehow lacking. It's a sentiment that has shown itself through open flirtations by people who won't take no for an answer with people who won't give any other response. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and now, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, are all among the list of high-profile Republicans who have been openly courted despite denials.
