A white powder that was found in a letter at a South Florida congressman's office was determined not to be anthrax.

The discovery was made at the Boca Raton office of U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Fla.

A spokesman for West said a campaign staffer received the envelope from a P.O. Box in Deerfield Beach. The envelope contained a white powder and a letter that made derogatory statements about West. The letter also mentioned anthrax.

That campaign staffer called U.S. Capitol police and local law enforcement.
